Where The Shoppers' Stop

All of us are aware of Shoppers' Stop and the delights that it offers its customers! I need not say more about the chain. But what I would like to highlight in this blog are the secondary businesses that have mushroomed around the Shoppers' Stop on Linking Road, Bandra (W), Mumbai. (The photographs have been emailed, thanks to a dear friend.)

I remember when this shop was established in its present location, about 10 odd years ago. The compound of the premise was bare and deserted. The movie theatre just behind, Suburbia, was not frequented much and movie tickets were easily available for any show on any day of the week. How things have changed since!

Today, Suburbia does a roaring business. The stalls on either side of Shoppers' Stop sell everything from trinkets, souvenirs, flowers, paneer tikkas and parathas to hot brownies with fudge and candy floss. These stalls have an equal number of customers as Shoppers' Stop. One can see people waiting for their piping hot parathas with butter and raitha just after 8.30 pm till around mid-night. (The small stall can be seen along the compound walls in the photographs).

A classic example of a flourishing establishment aiding smaller establishments to flourish under its wing.
