BHAVANI Textiles

Mr. Govind Choudhary was the owner of STD booth in Rajasthan few years back. The profits he was making were very less that he could barely take care of his family.

Few years back with the help of some relatives he got to know about a place called Pudupattinam near Kalpakkam. He liked south as a place to get settled and with some great Indian Jugad he purchased a land at the prime spot and built a three storey shop. So born the Bhavani textiles a complete family clothing shop.

He invested some huge amount initially which is quite evident with the size of shop and the range of clothing it offers. It is entire family shopping destination with all variety of clothing. The Material comes from throughout India. Like he said suiting and shirting comes from Pune, readymade from Indore, hosiery from Calcutta also some other items from Ahmedabad, Vellur, Surat, Patana, Pali, Bhelwada, Bhatinda, Kashmir, Tirpur, Mumbai, Hyderabad etc. Some of the supplies comes directly from factory some from dealer, broker or wholesaler. The supply comes via train, truck or courier. Who facilitates the delivery depends on how much is the order volume. The new order is placed once 50% of stock is sold.

Well about the shop, it is the family run business. Mr. Govind also has support of his son and nephews. Overall there are 20 workers some from local vicinity and some from North part of country. Shop is open all day a week and it’s open from 9 am to 9 pm. The evening period after 5 pm is the peak period for customers to come.

There are many competitors around but not as big as Bhavani textiles. But to this Mr. Govind replied that you can not judge the stock of the shop or the sales he is doing by merely from the size of the shop. He might be a good competitor. And secondly it’s the competition that runs the business. The bulk sale happens only because of competition, without competition there is no growth of business says Mr. Choudhary.

To keep customers glued to the store he believes firmly in quality and service. He also provides some discounts and some promotion schemes which are famous in village area. One of them is customer gets a silver plated glass for the purchase of Rs1000/- and above. He does the local advertising via print and electronic media. All the advertising strategies are devised by himself. For the service that they provide he gave the example of women’s saree section. It takes tremendous time and patience to cater to choices of females when it comes to saree. The staff in shop is well trained for the same.

There is a friendly relation between owner and employees. Also the store manager is the personality with a high local influence which in turn draws some fixed set of customers towards the shop without discounts and advertisements also. The shop is making good sales and soon it will be breaking even.
