DentisTree - The Dental Expert

An evening at DentisTree: The Dental Expert, Kalpakkam

A few weeks ago I got a chance to be at the DentisTree clinic located at Pudupattinam, Kalpakkam. The visit was not as a patient, but was to accompany a friend who required minor treatment. From the first look itself, the clinic appeared to be a big player, having an interesting name to begin with, and further, impressive hoardings etc. It is only after this visit that I got to know about DentisTree as a branded chain of dental clinics spread in and around Chennai. Adding to it, the plush website (www.dentistree.in) says it all, bringing in the jargons such as Dental Tourism.

Mere entry into the clinic gave an impression of being an organized one. As usual, footwear needed to be removed before entering in. Right at the entry was the reception upfront, handled by 2 lady-receptionists fine-versed in English, and the entire staff dressed in the DentisTree uniforms. To the left was a medium-sized LCD display mounted on the wall, accompanied by an AC. The mild chill inside made sure that at least the waiting experience would be a physically comfortable & relieving one for anyone who enters the place after struggling with the humidity outside.

The LCD display near the reception sported very informative, clear & highly animated graphics of the variety treatments undertaken there on the different sections of teeth. The animations were quite informative and detailed, making it easy for anyone to comprehend it without much of brain-storming. This had kept my attention throughout the stay there. Adding to this, the waiting area included comfortable chairs arranged in rows, without regional newspapers around.

When compared to the common dental clinics that we usually come across in various localities, the fee charged here was 1.5 to 2 times their price, but a safer & affordable option. For e.g. a normal filling within a tooth would cost Rs 300-350 at any common clinic, but it would cost in the range of Rs 500-600 at DentisTree, yet the patients stay satisfied. This cost does include the rich experience provided to the customer (patient) along with the brand franchise value, which probably made it worth paying.

The bigger picture: VV Dentistree Pvt. Ltd. has been operating since Nov ‘1999, and as of today, has as many as 10 centers in Chennai, including one each at Pondicherry & Vellore. Qualitas Medical Group, a Malaysia based primary healthcare network operating in India, New Zealand & Cambodia is its global partner, with around 40% stake in Dentistree. DentisTree boasts of its Chairside CAD/CAM technology with Bluelite Camera for the first time in India. Also, it offers all types of dental treatments like implants, smile correction & other therapies. DentisTree is on the road to expanding its operations to 50 centres in the 3 years to come, including Bangalore, Hyderabad & Cochin. This would require an estimated investment of INR 25 Crore (40 Lakh per centre), as per the company. The company expects a turnover of Rs. 60 Crore from overall operations in the next three years.
